European Commission declares "Quince pálinka of Madaras" a protected name.

The production of pálinka labeled "Quince of Madaras" may only take place in commercial pálinka distilleries in Bács-Kiskun County of Hungary using only quince fruit grown and harvested in this special designated area. The area provides this special fruit variety with an excellent environment in this sun-rich microclimate and unique loose sandy soil that warms up easily.
The production of quince pálinka of Madaras contains a special "secret step" that includes a post-harvest maturation element, that allows for the aromas to further concentrate in the fruit. The result is a full-bodied liquor with light citrus notes and a very typical nutty aroma.
